A construction firm director has been jailed for a year after admitting causing the death of a builder who fell more than 3.5 m after stumbling through a skylight opening in Norwich.
Wu Zhu Weng died in hospital after falling in January while refurbishing a bakery-café The Panary in the village of Trowse.
Alcon Construction director Sharaz Butt, 44, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and breaches of health and safety law during a hearing at Norwich Crown Court yesterday.
The Health and Safety Executive said glass had not been fitted to the skylight and the opening, which was covered by a plastic sheet, had not been properly marked.
The company, which was put into liquidation last year, was given a token fine of £10.
