North Devon Council plan to reduce mercury emissions

North Devon District Council is seeking a contractor to install mercury emissions abatement equipment to operate with two existing cremators.

The contract will be worth between £400,000 and £800,000.

Work will involve the installation of a mercury emissions abatement plant to operate in conjunction with two Evans 300 cremators. The contractor will be expected to supply all the necessary equipment, including flue gas coolers, a filtration/absorption plant, dump coolers, exhaust gas flues and fans.

The contractor will also supply dampers, valves and motors, and will be expected to carry out any necessary modifications to the cremator, as well as remove any redundant equipment.

It will also be expected to maintain the system for a minimum of one year after installation.

A total of five contractors will be permitted to tender.
