Painting firm wins Network Rail licence

Gateshead painting contractor Pyeroy has won a licence enabling it to tender major railway schemes as a main contractor.

The firm has been awarded a Principal Contractor Licence from Network Rail opening up the way to bid for the network operator's steelwork, repainting, access scaffolding and blasting work.

The licence will be held by the firm's industrial division and is similar to the one it holds with the Highways Agency.

Pyeroy is repainting the Forth Rail Bridge near Edinburgh as part of a three year deal worth £5 million.
