The Prime Minister has promised to help the UK wind energy industry with its supply chain difficulties.
Speaking via video link at the British Wind Energy Association's annual conference Gordon Brown said he would "seek that the supply chain can meet demand".
The BWEA has warned that a shortfall in global turbine supply is hampering projects in the UK and has called on homegrown firms to take on the capability.
In its state of the industry report it added: "In this way, 50 per cent of the value of wind installations could be captured by UK plc for the benefit of our economy."
They also addressed the shortage in engineering and technical skills needed to delivery projects.
Mr Brown went on to praise the industry on its achievement of overtaking Denmark to become the global leader in offshore wind power generation and reiterated the Government's commitment of providing a third of the UK's energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.
