Baggaley Construction wins fire station job

Nottinghamshire building contractor Baggaley Construction has won a £4.5 million contract to build a community fire station in Chesterfield.

The work, for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, will start immediately and includes a major rescue unit for responding to incidents involving major transport and collapsed buildings, water safety and hazardous materials.

The building, which is expected to be completed in autumn 2009, also incorporates renewable energy features such as photovoltaic cells and solar panels to produce energy for use by the building.

When finished it will be the flagship station for DFRS, and will be one of four key stations in the county.
