What is cninsight?
cninsight is an at-a-glance guide to what is going on in the construction industry. Compiled and written by Construction News’ award-winning team of journalists, it will tell you who is bidding for what jobs, everything you need to know about the major contractors and their strategies, and about the key industry decision-makers.
So what am I looking at?
Click on the homepage of cninsight and you will see the CN100 – Construction News’ list of the top contractors in the UK. Click on the contracts tab and you get the latest contract news in the form of a table. All contract stories which Construction News is writing about – wins, bids, and shortlists – go in, meaning that the leading-edge information on company tendering activity contained in the magazine is now available to search and sort, according to sector, business area, contractor or otherwise, for the first time.
The database for most contracts goes back to stories written from September 2009 onwards, as well as covering major jobs announced before then.
Is it just contracts?
Nearly all the top 50 contractors have their own profiles too, updated every time a major story happens. Every important news story about Balfour Beatty – whether about its policy towards its supply chain, its latest M&A deal or a change in its leadership – will be reflected in the company’s profile pages as it happens, providing the most up-to-date surveys of the top companies available anywhere.
The different sections of each profile cover the company’s most recent financials, its top people, an overview, a strategy section, an analysis of its major competitors and a specific section on its contract activity.
The contract I’m interested in isn’t on here. Why is that?
cninsight does not claim to be a comprehensive database of contracts in the UK construction industry. The Glenigan database, which has up-to-date intelligence on over 73,000 construction projects in the UK, is the best place to look if you need a more comprehensive service.
I’ve found something on cninsight which is wrong. What should I do?
