Fridge engineer helps Firth win Bafta

This morning while driving to work I nearly crashed the car. The cause of my amazement was that refrigeration became a mainstream news item.

Last night at the Baftas Colin Firth won best actor for his role as an academic in the film, a single man.

During his acceptance speech Mr Firth mentioned that he had reservations about taking the role and had penned an email telling his director, Tom Ford that he could not do it.

Thankfully Mr Firth did not send the email as just before he pressed the send button the doorbell rang, who was it at the door? None other than the engineer who had come to fix the fridge.

Without this ambassador for our trade Mr Firth would not have won the Bafta. I assume the engineer fixed the problem as he made it into the speech. Well done to the both of them, that’s what I call service.
