Asda withdraws from Dover regeneration scheme
Regeneration plans for Dover have hit a hurdle after supermarket chain Asda withdrew from the project.
It is understood the withdrawal was due to disagreements over design requirements and the operation of the shoppers’ car park.
Dover District Council leader Paul Watkins said he was “disappointed” Asda had chosen not to proceed with the new store, which was part of a scheme to redevelop the St James’s area.
He said the council would be looking for a new retailer to partner in the project.
