Refcom spells out benefits over rivals

We have industry’s best interests at heart and have its full backing and support, chief executive tells trade

Refcom has issued a statement to the rac trade spelling out its advantages over competing F-Gas Certification organisations, Bureau Veritas and Quidos.

Refcom officially issued the first company certificate to HVCA member company Ceilite Air Conditioning Limited of Stansted in Essex at an F Gas Essentials seminar organised by the HVCA and ACRIB in June.

To-date it has registered 2,500 companies in Great Britain; however, both Bureau Veritas and Quidos have started marketing their services stressing quick and easy application processes.

Refcom said its longstanding history with industry – it has run a voluntary certification scheme on behalf of the rac sector for 15 years – together with its involvement in the development of the F-Gas Regulations means it is well placed to deliver a comprehensive service.

Refcom added that its fees – prices across the three schemes are very competitive - are set at a level that covers the scheme’s administration and auditing requirements, as required by Defra.

Refcom is not allowed to distribute a profit and any surplus arising must be used either to support the aims of the F-Gas Regulations or to reduce certification fees in later years.

Bruce Kirton, chief executive of Refcom said in the statement: “All those that have the best interests of the industry and environment at heart would wish to see the F-Gas Regulations succeed and it is vital that any certification body has the full backing of all the industry stakeholders and is competent to deliver a credible certification auditing service. Refcom has that backing and the knowledge and experience to deliver the high level of service the industry expects.”
