Sarah Buck, director of BSW Consulting, was named Woman of the Year at the Atkins Inspire Awards, organised by Construction News.
The initiative, which awards women in construction, architecture, engineering and quantity surveying, recognised Sarah's role as first female president of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Winners in the construction sector included Carillion Health's Helen Jones, Jeannine de Sousa of Turner & Townsend and Kier Build's Louisa Finlay, who received Future Star, Outstanding Achiever and Inspirational Leader respectively.
Around 400 people attended the second annual event on Friday, which was hosted by Suzannah Nichol MBE, chief executive of the NSCC. She commented that the standard of entries this year "goes to show that women, with their sometimes different approach, have a valuable part to play in planning, delivering and managing the built environment in which we live".
