Video Story: Rotating towers planned for Dubai

An Italian architect David Fisher has revealed his ambitious plans to create 'dynamic towers', in which each floor fully rotates up to once an hour.

The "Dynamic Tower," is a skyscraper of rotating, energy-self-sufficient luxury apartments.

The 420-meter (1,378-foot) building features 80 apartments that spin a full 360 degrees, around a central column by means of 79 power-generating wind turbines.

Fisher said at a press conference in New York that the building will be constrcuted from pre-fabricated components made in a plant in Italy, which will allow the skyscraper to constructed more quickly and reduce building costs.

The idea is that the Dynamic Tower will constantly change its profile.

Fisher estimates $700 million to build and should be up and running in Dubai in 2010. There is, as yet, no confirmation exactly where in Dubai the tower will be built or when site work might begin.
