Lend Lease lands £17m MOD runway job
Lend Lease has won a £17 million contract to upgrade and maintain runways at the Royal Naval Air Station in Cornwall.
All the latest contract wins, market trends and information on the CNinsight 100 contractors in one interactive database.
The main runway at RNAS Culdrose is where the Olympic flame touched down recently on its arrival in the UK.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation has appointed Lend Lease, through its Debut Services joint venture and the Regional Prime Contract South West.
The project at Culdrose – a key operational base for the Royal Navy – will upgrade and renew the existing airfield taxiways and sections of runways, as well as ground lighting and ancillary equipment.
It follows on from a scheme last year to renew the lighting and resurface the main runway at the base.
Michael Dyke, executive director of Lend Lease, said: “The Royal Naval Air Station at Culdrose is one of the most complex and busy airfields in the UK and Lend Lease is delighted to be delivering this key infrastructure project.
“We are proud to have been a trusted partner to the Ministry of Defence for a number of years and are passionate about continuing to support the service men and women in our armed forces.”
Lend Lease has delivered 17,500 beds for the MOD over the last 10 years and is building a 260-home community for service personnel and their families at Bulford, near Salisbury.
