Construction fatalities

Health and Safety Executive figures 2008 - 2011

CN has published the first comprehensive online map of construction fatalities to enable firms to learn from where, when and how people are losing their lives in the industry.

The online map, available for free via cnplus.co.uk, displays each construction fatality since 2008/09, colour-coded by year. Clicking a pin will reveal details including the victim’s name, a brief description of the incident and the date it happened.

Many points on the map also include links to a fuller story on cnplus.co.uk and these will be updated on a rolling basis as more details emerge post-prosecution.

The map includes every death logged under the provisional HSE stats from 2008/09 to the present day. Since the data is based on the HSE’s provisional rolling statistics it could change because some deaths are re-classified as they go through the sometimes lengthy prosecution process.

It excludes data from the Office of Rail Regulation, local authorities and other reporting bodies.

The tables below classify the incidents according to region and incident type based on CN’s own analysis of the data.
