07Jun91 UK: SIR ROBERT MCALPINE WINS £13.2 MILLION CONTRACT TO BUILD NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SCOTLAND IN EDINBURGH.

Sir Robert McAlpine has won a £13.2 million contract from the PSA for construction of the second phase of the National Library of Sotland in Edinburgh.The building, which was designed along with the first phase by Andrew Merrylees Associates, will provide 10,300 sq m of floor space on seven levels.It will have a reinforced concrete frame and suspended concrete floors. The external finish will feature local sandstone and curtain walling.The project is due for completion in April 1994.
