The trial of three companies accused of breaking safety rules over the deaths of two workmen on the Severn Bridge has been abandoned.Painters Robin Phelps, 44 of Gloucestershire and Eric Sullivan, 46, of Gwent, plunged to their deaths from an inspection gantry in the horrific accident in September 1991.But the Heath and Safety Executive, which brought the prosecutions, decided to bring no more evidence and the trial was stopped last week.In an earlier trial last December the jury failed ...
