Bosch tool range given jolt by 18-volt saw
Bosch launches GCB 18 V-LI Professional
Bosch has expanded its lithium-ion powered range of handtools with the introduction of the GCB 18 V-LI Professional - an 18-Volt cordless band saw. The lightweight unit is suitable for metalworkers, floorers, plumbers and other tradespeople needing to cut metal, wood and plastic.
The unit has a cutting depth of 63.5 mm, is 343 mm long and weighs 3.8kg, which Bosch says makes it the lightest and most compact band saw in this voltage class. It also has an ergonomically shaped softgrip handle with an adjustable auxiliary handle and is designed to minimise fatigue – especially when working in hard-to-reach areas.
An integrated LED light illuminates the work area and coupled with a low-vibration saw blade action, allows precise cutting while a lock-off switch prevents uncontrolled start-ups. A pre-tensioning lever makes changing sawblades quicker and easier and a cover over the saw blade wheel offers additional protection.
The 3.0Ah lithium-ion battery can perform up to 150 cuts in 25 mm diameter plastic pipe on a single charge and a charge level indicator shows how much energy is left in the battery. Bosch says the Electronic Cell Protection on its Premium batteries protects against overload, overheating and deep discharge - and as there is no memory effect, the batteries remain ready even if they have not been used for months.
