Bouygues in Herts university win

The University of Hertfordshire has appointed Uliving as preferred development partner for 3,000 student rooms on its Hatfield campus.

Uliving is a consortium of Bouygues Development and housing association Derwent Living, and already manages some 10,000 student quarters.

The deal will see Uliving build construction of 2,511 units, for which it will seek BREEAM ‘outstanding’ status, and take over 502 units from the university.

Work on the first phase is due to start in May 2013 and be completed by September 2014.

Later phases will be completed in time for the autumn start of each academic year, with the whole project due to end in September 2016.

Bouygues Development managing director Stephane Slama-Royer said: “The quality of student accommodation has a huge influence on the student experience and that the provision of exceptional living environments is central to the success of these communities.”
