SES scoops £11.2m services contract for Greenwich Council

SES has been awarded an £11.2 million contract to complete the services installation at Greenwich Council’s new civic headquarters in Woolwich.

SES’s London & South East division has scooped the contract which will see M&E work start on site in February 2010.

The total cost of the new seven storey building will be in the region of £57 million.

During the 12 month M&E programme SES will work closely with principal contractor, Wates Construction Ltd.

SES London & South East divisional director Derek Joiner said: “As part of our on-going strategy to build before we build, a large part of this job will be pre-fabricated off-site first.

“As well as meeting the ‘green’ objectives of the client, the benefits of pre-fabrication are now widely recognised throughout the construction industry - improved installation periods, quality, site safety and reduced waste.

“PRISM (Prefabricated Integrated Services Modules), our in-house manufacturing division, has worked alongside the Woolwich project team from day one.

“Together they have identified a number of areas suitable for off-site modularisation, including under-floor modules, risers, pump & plantroom skids and modular wiring.”

The building will be operational in mid 2011, providing excellent working conditions in the new 18,000sq m building.
