New YMCA build planned for Bridgwater

The YMCA building in Bridgwater is set to be replaced with a new £4 million complex.

Plans for the new building include a multi-use sports hall, a fitness studio, café, meeting rooms, climbing walls and sprung-floor activity rooms.

YMCA chiefs have submitted the proposals for potential funding from Myplace – a Big Lottery Fund administered Government youth programme.

If everything gets the green light, building work should begin in March next year and will take about 12 months to complete.

The present building will continue to be used while work is in progress.
