Plans for a £6.7 million primary school on part of the site of Manchester City FC's former Maine Road stadium in Moss Side will go before council next Wednesday.
Members of the city council's top-level executives will be asked to approve plans for a new 420-place school and 60-place nursery.
The proposed new school would be open by September 2009.
The scheme is part of a master plan for the site, which would also include 444 new homes and a new health centre.
