Carillion and Babcock close on £3bn contract

A team featuring Carillion and Babcock has reached financial close on a £3 billion to provide training, support, management services and construction for the Royal School of Military Engineering.

Work on the 30-year Public Private Partnership deal will be carried out at the RSME's sites in Medway, Kent, and Minley, Hampshire.

Along with providing training and management services, the companies will also improve living accommodation and create training facilities.

Work will start next January and the value of construction over the first seven years of the deal will be £300 million.
