Low-cost supermarket chain Aldi has applied for permission to open a store in Drove Road, Newhaven.
The site was the former home of retailer MFI and has parking provision for customers.
But in 2004 planners rejected rival discount store Lidl's bid to open a supermarket at a site 100m down the road.
The application is due to go before Newhaven Town Council's planning committee tomorrow.
