Baby injured at newly opened Cabot Circus

An investigation has been launched after a baby was injured when a glass pane that fell from a door at a Harvey Nicholls store at the newly opened Cabot Circus shopping centre in Bristol.
A Bristol City Council spokesman said its health and safety division are investigating the incident at Harvey Nicholls and an inspector planned to visit the store.
A spokesman for Land Securities, who jointly developed Cabot Circus with Hammerson told Construction News that Harvey Nicholls were also now investigating Friday's accident.
He added: "We will work with them and see what lessons can be learnt."
Carol Toogood said her daughter and grandson were leaving the store on Friday when her daughter pushed the door to open it and the glass shattered.
She added: "The glass fell down all over the baby. There were pieces of glass four or five inches in diameter."
The baby received scratches to his body including a cut above his eye but his injuries were not serious.
Mrs Toogood said they had contacted a solicitor because they wanted compensation or at least someone to apologise for the incident.
Land Securities and Hammerson, who developed the site as Bristol Alliance, opened the £500 million Cabot Circus shopping centre on Thursday. The centre includes one million sq ft of shopping and leisure space with 140 shops.
Neither the main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine or Harvey Nicholls could be reached to discuss the accident.
