Man in court over manslaughter of construction worker

A Birmingham man is to appear in court charged with the manslaughter of a construction worker who died after he was punched in the street.

Simon Bampton, 28, from Southampton, was assaulted in Marsh Street, Bristol, on August 19.

He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where he later died.

Mohammed Waqar, 21, from Birmingham, has been charged by police with manslaughter. He will appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court.

Two other men, aged 21 and 25, also from Birmingham, who were arrested in connection with Mr Bampton's death have been released without charge.
