Plans submitted for £125m Birmingham skyscraper
Plans have been submitted to build a 200m skyscraper in Birmingham City Centre - the tallest building outside of London.
Regal Property Group has submitted an outline planning application to Birmingham City Council for the Regal Tower.
The £125 million 56 storey mixed used development will include a 289-bed luxury hotel, 256 serviced apartments, three floors of penthouses and shops at the bottom of the building.
The proposals also include a premium bar and restaurant, a 500-person banqueting suite and conference and meeting rooms as well as a spa and fitness suite and a double height Sky Bar on the 30th floor.
Regal Property Group boss Roger Holbeche said: “The cutting edge design of Regal Tower has the potential to redefine Birmingham’s skyline and provide an iconic focal point to this strategic city gateway.
“The Big City Plan sets out a need for more tall buildings and we are proud to be responding to this with the Regal Tower application.
Subject to approval, work could start on site by the end of 2010, and will take three years to build.
